On the way to Manila
We are currently underway enroute Manila, P. I. Were supposed to be in Sandakan in northerrn Borneo but because the ship had to delay departing Bali three hours the other evening, we were too late to catch the high tide at Sandakan necessary for the ship to cross the bar at the entrance to the harbor. So, the captain decided to just go on to Manila and give us an extra day there. This is, then, our third day straight at sea, and it hasn't been all bad. Lots of time for reading, and the "enrichment" lectures have all been pretty good. Had a great wine tasting yesterday. The Platters--are you old enough to remember them?--are on board, sang a couple nights ago and will again tonight. Think they came aboard in Bali, will leave in Manila. The ship has a great collection of movies we can bring up on gthe TV. So far we've watched True Grit, Get Low (Robert Duvall--really like him, but it was awfully draggy), and Eat, Pray, and Love. As I write, we have a thing on called "Jazz Masters." Really great. --- Sea is pretty rough today, roughest yet, but the ship handles it very well. Relative wind is prrobably about 35 knots over the bow, too windy to walk comfortably on deck.

I assume if your ship capsized that I would have read about it in the news. Did you go over a big tsunami wave or did it not reach you? What are you up to?
